ambient pop
what it is
Ambient pop is a indie style defined by an emphasis on atmospheres and textures, melodic simplicity and hypnotic repetition. The style, elated to dream pop, and mainly developing out of both indie pop and first wave post-rock, explores the same influences as in the first wave of post-rock at the time, such as krautrock, minimalism, and experimental forms of music in general, as well as space rock where dream pop's influence is present, but does not often emphasize elaborate and dense song structures the way post-rock does. It can often converge with styles of electronic music, especially indietronica (including glitch pop) and the niche phenomenon of oceanic glitch.
