new rave
what it is
New rave is a revival and reinvention of Alternative Dance that was popular primarily in the UK in the mid-2000s. The genre frequently combines uptempo Dance-Punk stylings with the polished Indie Rock of the Post-Punk Revival, and elements of Electronic Dance Music styles like Electroclash and Electro House, particularly influenced by the American band LCD Soundsystem and artists associated with the 2000s "blog house" scene like Justice. The result was a high energy and danceable style, well-suited to a revival of the late 1980s indie side to "rave" culture that hearkened back to the psychedelic neon aesthetics of the Baggy scenes.
